Philiphians 4
1 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!
2 I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.
3 Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.
바울은 성도들에게 주 안에서 같은 마음을 품고 하나가 되라고 부탁합니다. 왜 이런 부탁을 했을까요?
순두게와 유오디아는 빌립보 교회의 창립 멤버로서 헌신적인 사람들이었지만, 그들은 분열과 불화 상태에 있었습니다.
바울은 세 가지 권면을 합니다:
a) 첫째, 그는 두 사람이 화해하고 같은 마음을 품으라고 권면합니다 (2절).
b) 둘째, 그는 모든 사람에게 이 두 사람이 하나가 될 수 있도록 도우라고 요청합니다 (3절).
c) 셋째, 그는 그들의 관용을 모든 사람에게 알리라고 권고합니다 (5절).
교회와 가정 모두 천국과 같은 곳이 되어야 합니다. 이를 위해서는 개인들이 화해하고, 성도들이나 가족 구성원들이 서로 화해할 수 있도록 도와야 합니다. 이렇게 하면 천국과 같은 환경이 조성될 것입니다.
Paul asks the church members to live in unity with the same mind in the Lord. Why did he make this request?
Syntyche and Euodia were dedicated members who contributed to the founding of the Philippian church, but they were in a state of division and disagreement.
Paul gives three exhortations:
a) First, he urges the two to reconcile and have the same mind (verse 2).
b) Second, he asks everyone to help these two become united (verse 3).
c) Third, he advises them to let their gentleness be known to everyone (verse 5).
Both the church and the family should become like heaven. For this to happen, individuals need to reconcile, and the saints or family members should help each other reconcile. This will create a heavenly environment.
Final Exhortations
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
어떻게 살아가는 사람이 주 안에서 항상 기뻐하는 사람일까요?
자신이 처한 상황에서 묵묵히 살아가는 사람입니다. 현재 처해진 상황에서 ‘자족’하며 사는 사람입니다.
(질문) ‘자족’이 무엇입니까? = Content = (자기가 가진 것에) 만족하는 것입니다!
자족하며 살아가는 크리스챤들에게 하나님께서는 약속하십니다. “모든 쓸것을 채워주시리라”
(빌 4:19) 나의 하나님이 그리스도 예수 안에서 영광 가운데 그 풍성한 대로 너희 모든 쓸 것을 채우시리라
How can a person always rejoice in the Lord?
It is someone who lives quietly and diligently in their given circumstances. It is someone who lives with "contentment" in their current situation.
(Question) What is "contentment"? = Content = being satisfied with what one has!
God promises to Christians who live with contentment: "He will meet all your needs."
(Philippians 4:19) "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."
5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Thanks for Their Gifts
10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
주 안에 서 있으면 어떤 유익이 있습니까?
1)주 안에서 마음과 생각을 지켜주십니다! (평화를 주십니다!)
(빌 4:7) 그리하면 모든 지각에 뛰어난 하나님의 평강이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희 마음과 생각을 지키시리라
(빌 4:9) 너희는 내게 배우고 받고 듣고 본 바를 행하라 그리하면 평강의 하나님이 너희와 함께 계시리라
2)주 안에서 예수를 생각하던 것이 다시 싹이 납니다.
(빌 4:10) 내가 주 안에서 크게 기뻐함은 너희가 나를 생각하던 것이 이제 다시 싹이 남이니 너희가 또한 이를 위하여 생각은 하였으나 기회가 없었느니라
주 안에 서 있기만해도 놀라운 일이 일어나게 되는데, 그것은 ‘예수를 더 깊이 생각하는 은혜’를 받게 됩니다.
3)주 안에서 모든 것을 할 수 있게 하십니다.
(빌 4:13) 내게 능력 주시는 자 안에서 내가 모든 것을 할 수 있느니라
What are the benefits of standing firm in the Lord?
1) He guards your heart and mind in peace!
(Philippians 4:7) "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
(Philippians 4:9) "Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."
2) The thought of Jesus blooms anew.
(Philippians 4:10) "I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it."
Standing firm in the Lord leads to amazing things, such as receiving the grace to think more deeply about Jesus.
3) He enables you to do all things.
(Philippians 4:13) "I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
