하나님은 이 끔찍한 ‘다른 복음(Fake Gospel)’ 때문에 우리를 떠나셨습니다!

(열왕기하 14:1-4, 갈라디아서 1:6-12)

1.갈등찾기/ 여러분들이 교회를 떠난다면 왜 떠나겠습니까?

 

지난주 신문사에 기고한 원고가 신문에 실렸습니다. 제목은 ‘이 끔찍한 성직가들 때문에 떠났다!’입니다.

칼럼은  일반서적인 니체의 ‘차라투스트라는 이렇게 말했다’가 질문하고, 신앙서적인 필립 얀시의 ‘아 내안에 하나님이 없다’로 대답한 이야기입니다.

내용은 간략하게 이러합니다. 왜 니체가 ‘신은 죽었다’고 선언했느냐는 것입니다. 니테가 신은 죽었다라고 말한 것은 하나님이나 예수님이 싫어서가 아니라, 부패한 성직자들 때문에 더이상 하나님을 믿지 않기로 결정했다는 것입니다.

또한 필립 얀시가 ‘교회는 죽었다’고 선언하는데, 그 이유는 교회가 싫어서가 아니라, 남부지역 백인남성 우월주의에 빠진 교회를 다닐 때 인종차별, 계급차별의 교회를 보면서 더이상 교회가 필요없다라고 선언한 것입니다.

결국 이 두 문제를 하나로 묶는다면, 니체시대의 교회나 성직자들에게 그리고 필립얀시 시대의 교회나 성직가들에게 ‘바른 복음’ ‘참 복음’이 없었기에 니체나 필립얀시나 모두 하나님을 떠나고 교회를 떠나났다는 것입니다.

 

여러분들은 교회를 떠나본 경험이 있었습니까? 왜 떠나셨었습니까?

 

그런데 이런 질문으로 다시 반문합니다. 그럼 하나님은 우리 곁을 떠나고 싶었던 적이 없으셨을까요? 우리와 온 종일 동행하는 것이 늘 기쁘실까요?

 

출애굽기 32장을 보면 하나님께서는 모세를 두고 이집트에서 이끌어 내었던 자기백성을 모두 진멸하고, 다시 모세의 백성으로 새백성을 만드시고 싶으시다고 말합니다. 그 이유가 무엇이었을까요?

모세가 시내산에서 40일 동안 하나님과 보낼 때에 금송아지를 만들어 ‘이가 애굽에서 우리를 인도한 하나님이시다’라고 외치는 거짓진실을 두고 그만 질려버리신 것입니다.

 

(출 32:10) 그런즉 내가 하는 대로 두라 내가 그들에게 진노하여 그들을 진멸하고 너를 큰 나라가 되게 하리라

(출 32:7-9) 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 내려가라 네가 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 네 백성이 부패하였도다 그들이 내가 그들에게 명령한 길을 속히 떠나 자기를 위하여 송아지를 부어 만들고 그것을 예배하며 그것에게 제물을 드리며 말하기를 이스라엘아 이는 너희를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 너희 신이라 하였도다 여호와께서 또 모세에게 이르시되 내가 이 백성을 보니 목이 뻣뻣한 백성이로다

 

1)예후는 바알은 멸하였으나 ( 금송아지 )는 제거하지 않았습니다.

 

우리는 지난주 7월 14일 주일설교에서 예후에 관한 이야기를 다루었습니다. 그때도 비슷한 하나님의 반응을 볼 수 있었습니다. 바알은 멸하였지만, 마치 아론의 시대처럼 금송아지는 헐지 못한 예후를 두고 하나님은 그만 질려버리셨습니다.

 

(왕하 10:28-29) 예후가 이와 같이 이스라엘 중에서 바알을 멸하였으나  이스라엘에게 범죄하게 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄 곧 벧엘과 단에 있는 금송아지를 섬기는 죄에서는 떠나지 아니하였더라

 

2)아마샤는 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하였으나 ( 산당 )은 제거하지 않았습니다.

 

그런데 문제는 오늘 나누는 성경말씀에서도 아마샤는 자신의 아버지 요아스를 따라 선하게 행하였고, 또 하나님이 보시기에 바르게 왕으로서 통치하였지만, 산당은 제거하지 아니하였다고 말합니다. 당연히 하나님은 아마샤의 악을 보시고 그를 멸하셨습니다.

 

(왕하 14:3-4) 아마샤가 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하였으나 그의 조상 다윗과는 같지 아니하였으며 그의 아버지 요아스가 행한 대로 다 행하였어도 오직 산당들을 제거하지 아니하였으므로 백성이 여전히 산당에서 제사를 드리며 분향하였더라

 

2.갈등분석/ 당신은 산당을 가지고 있습니까? 

 

1)산당은 무엇입니까?

산당이라는 말을 히브리어로 ‘바마’라고 합니다. 영어로는 High Place 곧 ( 높은 ) 곳을 의미합니다.

 

2)산당이 나쁜곳입니까?

하나님은 산당을 두고 왜 이렇게 화를 내시고 있는 것일까요?

 

산당은 가나안 원주민들이 우상을 숭배하던 장소였습니다. 그래서 하나님께서는 여호수아에게 가나안 땅에 들어가면 제일 먼저 산당을 깨뜨리라고 명령하셨습니다.

 

(민 33:51-52) 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 그들에게 이르라 너희가 요단 강을 건너 가나안 땅에 들어가거든 그 땅의 원주민을 너희 앞에서 다 몰아내고 그 새긴 석상과 부어 만든 우상을 다 깨뜨리며 산당을 다 헐고

 

그런데 열왕기상 3장을 보면 솔로몬이 왕에 오르자마자 하나님께 일천번제를 드리는 장면이 나오는데, 그 장소가 기브온의 산당이었습니다. 어떻게 솔로몬은 우상을 숭배하는 곳에서 일천번제를 드릴 수 있었습니까?

솔로몬은 성전이 아직 완공이 안되었기에 잠시동안 우상숭배하던 산당을 빌려 하나님께 예배를 드린 것입니다.  그리고 그 ‘잠시 동안’ 빌린 사건 이후에 겉잡을 수 없는 산당에서의 우상숭배가 솔로몬의 왕 말기 때 일어나고 말았습니다.

 

(왕상 3:2-4) 그 때까지 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 아직 건축하지 아니하였으므로 백성들이 산당에서 제사하며 솔로몬이 여호와를 사랑하고 그의 아버지 다윗의 법도를 행하였으나 산당에서 제사하며 분향하더라 이에 왕이 제사하러 기브온으로 가니 거기는 산당이 큼이라 솔로몬이 그 제단에 일천 번제를 드렸더니

 

가)솔로몬의 아내들을 위한 ( 우상 ) 숭배 장소가 되었습니다.

 

솔로몬은 천명이나 되는 아내와 후궁을 위해 그들의 우상들을 섬길 수 있는 산당을 허락했습니다. 이것이 큰 문제였습니다. 모든 우상이란 우상은 하나님의 나라인 이스라엘에 침투되고 말았습니다.

 

(왕상 11:3-7) 왕은 후궁이 칠백 명이요 첩이 삼백 명이라… 모압의 가증한 그모스를 위하여 예루살렘 앞 산에 산당을 지었고

 

나)여로보암의 ( 금송아지 )를 예배하는 장소가 되었습니다.

 

거기에다가 남유다와 북이스라엘로 분열될 때 여로보암은 성전 대신에 벧엘과 단에 산당을 지어 놓고 금송아지를 예배하도록 하는 큰 죄를 져질렀습니다.

 

(왕상 12:25-33) 여로보암이… 두 금송아지를 만들고… 하나는 벧엘에 두고 하나는 단에 둔지라… 또 산당들을 짓고 레위 자손 아닌 보통 백성으로 제사장을 삼고… 자기 마음대로… 절기로 정하고 벧엘에 쌓은 제단에 올라가서 분향하였더라

 

3)구약에서 의로운 왕은 ( 산당 )을 부순 왕을 말합니다.

 

구약에서 선한 왕으로 분류되는 왕이 히스기야와 요시아입니다. 사실 큰 그림에서는 남유다의 요아스나 북이스라엘의 예후도 선한 왕으로도 분류할 수 있습니다. 그런데 왜 유독 히스기야와 요시아를 선한 왕으로 분류했을까요?

 

그 기준이 바로 ‘산당을 제거했다는 것이었습니다!

 

(대하 32:12) 이 히스기야가 여호와의 산당들과 제단들을 제거하여 버리고 유다와 예루살렘에 명령하여 이르기를 너희는 다만 한 제단 앞에서 예배하고 그 위에 분향하라 하지 아니하였느냐

 

(왕하 23:15) 또한 이스라엘에게 범죄하게 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 벧엘에 세운 제단과 산당을 왕(요시아)이 헐고 또 그 산당을 불사르고 빻아서 가루를 만들며 또 아세라 목상을 불살랐더라

 

3.실마리/ 오늘날의 산당은 ( 다른복음 )을 말합니다.

 

하나님의 마음을 아프게 하는 구약시대의 산당이나 금송아지가 오늘날에도 존재합니다. 신약성경을 그것을 두고 이렇게 말합니다. ‘다른 복음’!!!

 

마치 출애굽기 32장 10절에서 하나님께서 금송아지를 따라 자신을 떠나는 것을 이스라엘백성을  두고 ‘속히 떠나는 자’라고 표현했었는데, 갈라디아서 1장 6절을 보면 ‘다른복음’을 따라 복음을 떠나는 자들을 두고 이렇게 말합니다. “속히 떠나는 자”

 

(갈 1:6) 그리스도의 은혜로 너희를 부르신 이를 이같이 속히 떠나 다른 복음을 따르는 것을 내가 이상하게 여기노라

 

1)다른복음을 전하면 ( 저주 )를 받습니다.

 

하나님은 산당을 제거하지 않았던 북이스라엘의 왕들을 두고 벌을 내리셨던 것처럼, 다른복음을 따라 가는 자들을 두고 이렇게 말씀하십니다. “저주를 받을지어다!”

 

(갈 1:8) 그러나 우리나 혹은 하늘로부터 온 천사라도 우리가 너희에게 전한 복음 외에 다른 복음을 전하면 저주를 받을지어다 

(갈 1:9) 우리가 전에 말하였거니와 내가 지금 다시 말하노니 만일 누구든지 너희가 받은 것 외에 다른 복음을 전하면 저주를 받을지어다

 

다른복음을 전하는 자면, 그가 하늘로부터 온 천사라도 저주를 받고, 누구든지 다른복음을 전하는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라고 선포하십니다.

 

그리고 다른복음을 전하는 일은 곧 ‘주를 사랑하지 않는 행동’이라고 고린도전서 16장에서 선언합니다.

 

(고전 16:22) 만일 누구든지 주를 사랑하지 아니하면 저주를 받을지어다 우리 주여 오시옵소서 또는 우리 주께서 임하셨도다

 

2)다른복음을 전하면 왜 저주를 받습니까?

 

가)그리스도의 복음을 ( 변하게 ) 합니다.

 

다른복음을 전하는 일은 곧 그리스도의 복음 곧 ‘참 복음’ ‘바른 복음’을 변질시키기 때문입니다.

 

(갈 1:7) 다른 복음은 없나니 다만 어떤 사람들이 너희를 교란하여 그리스도의 복음을 변하게 하려 함이라 

 

그리스도의 복음만 변하게 하는 것이 아니라, 다른복음은 다른 예수를 전하는 것과 같고, 다른 영을 받게 되기에 저주를 받을 수 밖에 없는 것입니다.

 

(고후 11:4) 만일 누가 가서 우리가 전파하지 아니한 다른 예수를 전파하거나 혹은 너희가 받지 아니한 다른 영을 받게 하거나 혹은 너희가 받지 아니한 다른 복음을 받게 할 때에는 너희가 잘 용납하는구나

 

나)교회를 ( 무너 ) 뜨립니다.

 

그리스도에 관한 복음이 변하게 되면, 또한 교회가 무너지기 때문입니다.

갈라디아서 1:6 말씀처럼 ‘그리스도의 은혜로 부르심 받은 공동체’ 곧 교회를 ‘속히 떠나’는 일이 발생하기 때문입니다.

 

(갈 1:6) 그리스도의 은혜로 너희를 부르신 이를 이같이 속히 떠나 다른 복음을 따르는 것을 내가 이상하게 여기노라

 

3)다른복음이란 무엇입니까?

다른 복음은 두가지를 생각할 수 있습니다.

첫째는 복음에 무언가를 더하는 일이고, 둘째는 복음에 무언가를 빼는 일입니다

 

(신 4:2) 내가 너희에게 명령하는 말을 너희는 가감하지 말고 내가 너희에게 내리는 너희 하나님 여호와의 명령을 지키라

 

가)복음에 ( 가 ) 하는 것입니다.

 

복음에 더하는 일은 곧 예수 그리스도의 이름을 믿기만 구원을 받는데, 거기에다가 모세의 법대로 할례를 받아야 한다고 더하는 것입니다. 율법이 없으면 아무리 복음을 받더라고 능히 구원을 받지 못한다고 거짓을 말하는 것입니다.

 

(행 15:1) 어떤 사람들이 유대로부터 내려와서 형제들을 가르치되 너희가 모세의 법대로 할례를 받지 아니하면 능히 구원을 받지 못하리라 하니

 

나)복음에 ( 감 ) 하는 것입니다.

 

복음에다가 빼는 것입니다. 곧 예수께서 육체로 오신 분이 아니라고 말합니다. 물과 피로 임하신 것을 부정합니다.

 

(요일 4:2-3)이로써 너희가 하나님의 영을 알지니 곧 예수 그리스도께서 육체로 오신 것을 시인하는 영마다 하나님께 속한 것이요 예수를 (육체로 오신 것을) 시인하지 아니하는 영마다 하나님께 속한 것이 아니니 이것이 곧 적그리스도의 영이니라

(요일 5:6-8) 이는 물과 피로 임하신 이시니 곧 예수 리스도시라 물로만 아니요 물과 피로 임하셨고 증언하는 이는 성령이시니 성령은 진리니라 증언하는 이가 셋이니 성령과 물과 피라 또한 이 셋은 합하여 하나이니라

 

(예) 영지주의 -> ( 인성 ) 부정, 여호와증인 -> ( 신성 ) 부정

영지주의자들은 예수님의 인성을 부정하고, 여호와증인들은 예수님의 신성을 부정합니다. 모두 ‘다른복음’입니다.

 

4.복음제시/ 그리스도의 복음, 곧 바른복음이란 무엇입니까?

 

1)예수 그리스도의 ( 계시 ) 입니다.

 

복음은 사람의 뜻을 따라 된 것이 아닙니다. 오직 예수 그리스도의 계시로 된 것입니다.

 

(갈 1:11-12) 형제들아 내가 너희에게 알게 하노니 내가 전한 복음은 사람의 뜻을 따라 된 것이 아니니라 이는 내가 사람에게서 받은 것도 아니요 배운 것도 아니요 오직 예수 그리스도의 계시로 말미암은 것이라

 

2)예수 그리스도의 ( 대속 ) 입니다.

 

예수 그리스도께서는 하나님 곧 아버지의 뜻을 따라 이 악한 세대에서 우리를 건지시려고 우리 죄를 대속하여 죽으시기 위하여 이 땅에 오셨고, 자신의 몸을 내어주신 분이십니다.

 

(갈 1:4) 그리스도께서 하나님 곧 우리 아버지의 뜻을 따라 이 악한 세대에서 우리를 건지시려고 우리 죄를 대속하기 위하여 자기 몸을 주셨으니

 

성경은 명확하게 말합니다. 모세의 율법이 필요하지 않습니다. 할레도 필요하지 않습니다. 복음에다가 무언가 첨부되어야 할 행동이 있다고 말하지 않습니다. 오직 예수를 믿는자, 영접한 자는 모두 구원을 받습니다. 이것이 복음입니다!!

 

(요 1:12) 영접하는 자 곧 그 이름을 믿는 자들에게는 하나님의 자녀가 되는 권세를 주셨으니

(p.84) 예수 그리스도의 정체는 정말 믿기 어려우며 말로 표현하기 더 어렵다. 그분은 절반은 인간, 절반은 신이 아니다…. 하나님이면서 또한 절대적이고 전적인 인간이시다!… 생명의 주인이신 초월적 창조주가 연약하고 유한한 인간이 되어 죽음의 참혹함을 전부 느끼셨다!

 

(예) 지난주 성경강독시간에 올리비아가 영어로 성경요약을 적은 노트를 보면서 큰 감동을 받았습니다.

예수 그리스도에 대하여 가감없이 그대로 적고, 생각하고, 믿고, 따르는 올리비아를 보면서 ‘참된 복음’ ‘바른 복음’의 환희를 느꼈습니다.

 

5.결론/ 오늘 설교제목을 이렇게 잡았습니다. ‘하나님은 이 이 끔찍한 다른복음(fake gospel) 때문에 우리를 떠나셨습니다.

다른복음(fake gospel)은 바른복음(real gospel)을 결코 이길 수 없습니다.

마찬가지로 ‘다른교회’(fake church)는 바른교회(real church)를 결코 이길 수 없습니다.

 

위에서 언급했던 신문칼럼을 인용하여 말씀드린다면, 다른성직자(fake pastor)는 결코 바른성직자(real pastor)를 이길 수 없습니다.

 

제가 열방교회 강단에서 ‘바른복음’real gospel만 증거하는 목사가 되도록 기도해 주십시오. 어떤 성도도 설교말씀을 들을 때 ‘다른복음’(fake gospel)을 들어 ‘변질된 예수 그리스도’에 대하여 듣지 않게 하고, 교회를 떠나는 일이 없도록 기도해 주십시오.

 

더나아가 제가 강단에서 바른복음(real gospel)을 증거하여서 예수 그리스도에 대하여 명확하여지고, 교회를 통하여 더 하나님께 가까이 나가는 성도들이 많아질 수 있도록 기도해 주십시오.

 

인생의 방황은 예수를 만나면 끝나고, 신앙생활의 방황은 좋은 교회를 만나면 끝납니다!

 

사랑하는 성도님, 새벽설교, 수요설교, 주일설교, 성경강독반, 커피브레이크, 생명의 삶을 통해 어른들이 복음의 맛을 경험하기를 소망합니다.

그리고 차세대 교회학교의 아이들이 성경공부와 주일설교를 통하여 복음의 정수를 배우기를 원합니다.

 

그래서 말씀이 삶이 되고, 삶이 말씀이 되는 교회/가정/직장/사업체/자신이 되기를 소망합니다.

 

열방교회의 ‘바른복음’을 통해 지옥에 가야만 하는 지역 주민들이 천국으로 갈 수 밖에 없어지기를 소망합니다.

 

한국교회를 위해 함께 기도합시다. 산당을 의지하지 않고, 금송아지를 추구하지 않는 목사와 성도들이 될 수 있도록 기도합시다. 하나님께서 끔찍한 다른복음으로 한국교회를 떠나시지 않도록 기도합시다.

 

이런 말을 들으면서 충격이었습니다. 한국교회의 현실이라고 합니다.

 

‘은과 금은 내게 없거니와 에수 그리스도의 이름으로 일어나 걸으라’라고 외치는 것이 아니라, ‘에수 그리스도의 이름은 내게 없거니와 은과 금으로 일어나 걸으라’고 외친다고 합니다.

 

(행 3:6) 베드로가 이르되 은과 금은 내게 없거니와 내게 있는 것을 네게 주노니 나사렛 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 일어나 걸으라 하고

(행 3:6) 베드로가 이르되 나사렛 예수 그리스도의 이름은 내게 없거니와 내게 있는 이것을 네게 주노니 은과 금으로 일어나 걸으라 하고

 

사랑하는 열방가족 여러분, 다른복음, 가짜복음을 ‘속히’ 따라가지 마십시오. 바른복음, 진짜복음을 ‘속히’ 영접하십시오.

끔찍한 목사가 되어서 성도들을 교회에서 쫓아내지 말고, 끔찍한 성도가 되어서 목사를 교회에서 쫓아내지 마십시오!

특별히 산당을 제거합시다. 금송아지를 무너뜨립시다. 다른복음을 멸하고 바른복음을 선포합시다. 그래서 하나님이 머무시기 기쁘신 열방교회를 만들어가는 우리 모두가 되기를 소망합니다!

God Has Left Us Because of This Horrible 'Fake Gospel'! (2 Kings 14:1-4, Galatians 1:6-12)

 

1.Finding the Conflict / Why would you leave the church?

 

Last week, the article I submitted to the newspaper was published. The title was "Left Because of These Horrible Clergymen!" The column is a story that begins with a question from Nietzsche's general book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" and answers with Philip Yancey's faith book "Where Is God When It Hurts?" In brief, it explains why Nietzsche declared "God is dead." Nietzsche said this not because he disliked God or Jesus, but because he decided to stop believing in God due to corrupt clergymen. Similarly, Philip Yancey declared "The church is dead" not because he hated the church but after witnessing racial and class discrimination in a white supremacist church in the southern United States. If we combine these two issues, both Nietzsche and Yancey left God and the church because there was no "true gospel" or "correct gospel" among the clergy and churches of their times.

 

Have you ever left the church? Why did you leave?

 

But let's reverse the question. Has God ever wanted to leave us? Is He always delighted to walk with us all day long?

 

In Exodus 32, God tells Moses that He wants to destroy the people He led out of Egypt and make a new nation from Moses because of their corruption. The reason was their creation of a golden calf and proclaiming it as their god, leading God to be fed up with them.

 

(Exodus 32:10) Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.

(Exodus 32:7-9) Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, 'These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.' The LORD said to Moses, 'I have seen these people, and they are a stiff-necked people.'"

 

1)Jehu destroyed Baal but did not remove the golden calves.

Last Sunday, on July 14, we discussed the story of Jehu during our sermon. We saw a similar reaction from God. Although Jehu destroyed Baal, like in Aaron's time, he couldn't remove the golden calves, which caused God to be fed up with him.

 

(2 Kings 10:28-29) So Jehu destroyed Baal worship in Israel. However, he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit—the worship of the golden calves at Bethel and Dan.

 

2)Amaziah did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but did not remove the high places.

In today's scripture, Amaziah followed his father Joash and ruled rightly in the eyes of the Lord. However, he did not remove the high places, and the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there, which led to God's displeasure.

 

(2 Kings 14:3-4) He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not as his father David had done. In everything he followed the example of his father Joash. The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

 

2.Conflict Analysis / Do you have high places?

 

1)What are high places?

In Hebrew, the word for high place is "bamah," which in English is "high place," meaning elevated locations.

 

2)Are high places bad?

Why is God so angry about high places?

 

High places were locations where the original inhabitants of Canaan worshiped idols. Therefore, God commanded Joshua to destroy these high places when they entered Canaan.

 

(Numbers 33:51-52) Speak to the Israelites and say to them: "When you cross the Jordan into Canaan, drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places."

 

However, in 1 Kings 3, Solomon offers a thousand burnt offerings at Gibeon, which was a high place. How could Solomon offer sacrifices at a place where idols were worshiped?

 

Solomon temporarily used the high places for worship until the temple was built. However, this temporary allowance led to widespread idol worship at high places by the end of Solomon's reign.

 

(1 Kings 3:2-4) The people, however, were still sacrificing at the high places, because a temple had not yet been built for the Name of the LORD. Solomon showed his love for the LORD by walking according to the instructions given him by his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places. The king went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.

 

a) High places became locations for idol worship for Solomon's wives.

 

Solomon allowed high places for his numerous wives and concubines to worship their idols, leading to the infiltration of every idol into Israel.

 

(1 Kings 11:3-7) He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines... He built a high place for Chemosh the detestable god of Moab on the hill east of Jerusalem, and for Molek the detestable god of the Ammonites.

 

b) High places became locations for worshiping the golden calves of Jeroboam.

 

When the kingdom split into Israel and Judah, Jeroboam built high places in Bethel and Dan and led the people to worship golden calves, committing a great sin.

 

(1 Kings 12:25-33) Jeroboam built two golden calves and said, "Here are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt." He set up one in Bethel and the other in Dan. And this thing became a sin; the people came to worship the one at Bethel and went as far as Dan to worship the other... Jeroboam built shrines on high places and appointed priests from all sorts of people, even though they were not Levites... He offered sacrifices on the altar; this he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves he had made.

 

3)In the Old Testament, righteous kings were those who destroyed high places.

 

Righteous kings like Hezekiah and Josiah were praised because they destroyed high places. Although kings like Joash of Judah and Jehu of Israel were good in other aspects, they failed to remove high places.

 

(2 Chronicles 32:12) Has not Hezekiah taken away this god’s high places and altars, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, 'You must worship before one altar and burn sacrifices on it'?

(2 Kings 23:15) Even the altar at Bethel, the high place made by Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin—even that altar and high place he demolished. He burned the high place and ground it to powder, and burned the Asherah pole also.

 

3.Key Point / Today's high places represent 'other gospels.'

The high places and golden calves that pained God in the Old Testament exist today in the form of 'other gospels.' In Exodus 32:10, God describes those who left Him for the golden calf as "quick to turn away." In Galatians 1:6, Paul describes those who follow other gospels similarly, as "so quickly deserting."

 

(Galatians 1:6) I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel.

 

1)Those who preach another gospel are cursed.

 

Just as God punished the kings of Israel for not removing high places, those who follow other gospels are cursed.

 

(Galatians 1:8-9) But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

 

Furthermore, preaching another gospel is considered an act of not loving the Lord, as stated in 1 Corinthians 16:22.

 

(1 Corinthians 16:22) If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed! Come, Lord!

 

2)Why are those who preach another gospel cursed?

 

a) They distort the gospel of Christ.

 

Preaching another gospel means distorting the true and correct gospel of Christ.

 

(Galatians 1:7) which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

 

Not only does it distort the gospel of Christ, but preaching another gospel also leads to receiving another spirit and another Jesus.

 

(2 Corinthians 11:4) For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

 

b) They destroy the church.

 

Distorting the gospel of Christ also leads to the destruction of the church, causing the community called by the grace of Christ to "quickly desert."

 

(Galatians 1:6) I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel.

 

c) What is another gospel?

 

There are two aspects to consider when talking about another gospel:

 

First, it is the addition of something to the gospel, and second, it is the removal of something from the gospel.

 

(Deuteronomy 4:2) Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.

 

가) Adding to the gospel.

 

Adding to the gospel means saying that, in addition to believing in the name of Jesus Christ for salvation, one must also be circumcised according to the law of Moses. This falsely claims that without the law, even if one receives the gospel, they cannot be saved.

 

(Acts 15:1) Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers: "Unless you are circumcised according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved."

 

나) Subtracting from the gospel.

 

Subtracting from the gospel means denying that Jesus came in the flesh. It denies that He came with water and blood.

 

(1 John 4:2-3) This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

(1 John 5:6-8) This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

 

(Example) Gnosticism denies Christ's humanity, while Jehovah's Witnesses deny His divinity. Both are 'another gospel.'

 

4. Presentation of the Gospel / What is the true gospel of Christ?

 

1)It is the (revelation) of Jesus Christ.

 

The gospel is not something that comes from human will. It is solely from the revelation of Jesus Christ.

 

(Galatians 1:11-12) I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.

 

2) It is the (redemption) of Jesus Christ.

 

Jesus Christ came to this earth to redeem us from our sins according to the will of God, our Father. He gave His body as a sacrifice.

 

(Galatians 1:4) Who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.

 

The Bible clearly states that the law of Moses is not needed. Circumcision is not needed. The gospel does not require any additional actions. Only those who believe in and receive Jesus are saved. This is the gospel!

 

(John 1:12) Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.

 

(Book) Life Questions -> In Tim Keller's book Life Questions, there is a passage that reads:

 

(p.84) The identity of Jesus Christ is truly hard to believe and even harder to express in words. He is not half human and half divine… He is both God and completely and absolutely human!… The transcendent Creator, the owner of life, became a weak and finite human and fully experienced the horror of death!

 

(Example) Last week, I was deeply moved when I saw Olivia’s notes summarizing the Bible in English during our Bible reading time. Seeing Olivia write, think, believe, and follow the 'true gospel' of Jesus Christ without adding or subtracting anything filled me with the joy of the 'true gospel' and the 'right gospel.'

 

5. Conclusion / Today’s sermon title is as follows: “God has left us because of this dreadful fake gospel. The fake gospel can never overcome the true gospel. Similarly, a 'fake church' can never overcome the true church.”

 

If I may quote from the newspaper column mentioned earlier, a 'fake pastor' can never surpass a true pastor.

 

Please pray that I become a pastor who only preaches the 'true gospel' from the pulpit at Yeolbang Church. Pray that no congregation member will hear a 'fake gospel' that distorts Jesus Christ and leave the church.

 

Furthermore, pray that by preaching the true gospel from the pulpit, we can become more clear about Jesus Christ and that more members can draw closer to God through the church.

 

The wandering of life ends when one meets Jesus, and the wandering of faith ends when one finds a good church!

 

Dear congregation, I hope that through early morning sermons, Wednesday sermons, Sunday sermons, Bible study groups, coffee breaks, and the life of the Spirit, adults will experience the taste of the gospel. And I wish for the next generation in the church school to learn the essence of the gospel through Bible study and Sunday sermons.

 

Let’s hope that our church/family/workplace/business/ourselves become places where the Word becomes life and life becomes the Word.

 

I hope that through the 'true gospel' of Yeolbang Church, the local residents who are destined for hell will inevitably come to heaven.

 

Let’s pray together for the Korean church. Let us pray that pastors and congregants do not rely on high places or seek golden calves. Let us pray that God does not leave the Korean church because of dreadful fake gospels.

 

I was shocked to hear this: The reality of the Korean church.

 

It is said that rather than proclaiming "Silver and gold I do not have, but in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk," it proclaims, "I do not have the name of Jesus Christ, but rise and walk with silver and gold."

 

(Acts 3:6) Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk."

(Acts 3:6) Then Peter said, "I do not have the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, but what I do have I give you. Rise and walk with silver and gold."

 

Dear Yeolbang family, do not quickly follow another gospel or fake gospel. Quickly embrace the true gospel and the real gospel.

 

 

Do not become dreadful pastors who drive congregation members away from the church, and do not become dreadful congregation members who drive pastors away from the church! Especially, let us remove high places, destroy golden calves, and eradicate the fake gospel while proclaiming the true gospel. Let us all become people who build a church that pleases God!
