Psalm 64[a]
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy.
우리는 염려가 있을 때 하나님께 아뢸 수 있음에 감사해야 합니다. 다윗이 1절에서 고백하고 있습니다. 그리고 원수를 두려워하는 것으로부터 나의 생명을 보호해 주시기를 간구합니다. 원수로 부터 구해주세요가 아닌 원수를 두려워하지 않기를 말입니다.
We should be thankful that we can bring our concerns to God. David confesses this in verse 1, asking God to protect his life not from the enemy itself, but from the fear of the enemy. Instead of simply saying, “Save me from my enemies,” he prays to be free from fearing them.
2 Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the plots of evildoers.
3 They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.
4 They shoot from ambush at the innocent; they shoot suddenly, without fear.
5 They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say, “Who will see it?”
6 They plot injustice and say, “We have devised a perfect plan!” Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.
그리고 다윗은 원수들이 어떠한지를 하나님께 상세하게 아뢰고 있습니다. 사악한 자들의 음모, 칼과 같은 혀, 치명적인 화살같은 잔인한 말, 죄 없는 자에게 숨어서 활을 쏘거나 겁없이 갑자기 쏘기, 악한 계획을 부추기고 누가 보겠냐며 올무 감추기, 완벽한 기획이라며 죄악을 꾸미는 등 악한 자들이 하는 행위를 하나님께 털어 놓습니다.
And David describes in detail to God what his enemies are like. He speaks of the wicked plotting schemes, their tongues like swords, their cruel words like deadly arrows, how they hide and shoot at the innocent or shoot suddenly without fear. He tells God of how they incite evil plans, say "Who will see us?" as they set hidden traps, and how they devise sin, claiming their schemes are flawless. David lays out these deeds of the wicked before God.
7 But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down.
8 He will turn their own tongues against them and bring them to ruin; all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.
다윗은 그러나 아무리 원수들이 숨어서 갑자기 활을 쏘더라도, 주 여호와 하나님께서는 오히려 그들을 쏘시고 갑자기 물리쳐 주실 것을 확신하고 있습니다. 원수들의 사악한 혀는 다시 그들에게 돌아갈 것이고 그들을 자멸시킬 것이고 그들을 보는 이들은 고개 저을 것임도 알고 있습니다.
David, however, is confident that no matter how much his enemies hide and suddenly shoot their arrows, the Lord God will instead strike them down suddenly. He believes that the wicked tongues of his enemies will return upon themselves and lead to their own destruction, and he knows that those who see this will shake their heads in scorn.
9 All people will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done.
10 The righteous will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!
마지막으로 다윗은 하나님을 찬양합니다. 의로운 자들은 주 안에서 기뻐하고 마음이 정직한 자는 주 안에서 기뻐할 것이라고 말입니다.
Finally, David praises God, stating that the righteous will rejoice in the Lord, and the upright in heart will be glad in Him.
우리의 원수는 결국은 죄일 것입니다. 2절부터 6절까지는 우리가 일상에서 접할 수 있는 죄성입니다. 그것이 내 주변일 수도 있지만 내 안에서 일어날 가능성도 있습니다. 그러나 우리는 그리스도로 인해 참 의인이 되었습니다. 예수그리스도가 내 안의 주인이 되셔서 성령의 열매를 맺고 산다면 죄의 노예가 되지 않고 기쁜 삶을 살 수 있는 것입니다.
Our ultimate enemy is sin. From verses 2 to 6, we see the sinful nature that we encounter in our daily lives. It may manifest around us, but it can also arise within us. However, because of Christ, we have become true righteous individuals. When Jesus Christ becomes the Lord of our lives and we bear the fruit of the Spirit, we can live joyfully without being enslaved by sin.
