43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.”

 

예수님이 빌립을 만났을 때, "나를 따르라"고 말씀하십니다. 예수님이 누구이고 왜 당신이 나를 따라야 하는지 구체적인 설명도 없습니다. 여기서 영적인 힘을 느낄 수 있습니다. 우리가 누군가를 위해 중보기도를 하고 성령이 충만한 상태에서는 말주변이 좋아서 그 사람의 마음을 움직이는게 아니라 성령의 도우심으로 그 사람이 움직이는 것을 알 수 있습니다.
 

When Jesus met Philip, He simply said, "Follow me." There was no detailed explanation about who He was or why Philip should follow Him. Here, we can sense the spiritual power at work. When we intercede for someone in prayer and are filled with the Holy Spirit, it’s not our eloquence or persuasive words that move their hearts. Instead, it is the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit that compels them to respond.

 

44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida.

45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.

“Come and see,” said Philip.

 

"나를 따르라"는 말에 순종한 빌립이 이번엔 나다나엘에게 예수님을 증거합니다. 나사렛에서 무슨 선한 것이 날 수 있느냐고 의심하는 나다나엘에게 와서 보라고 빌립은 말합니다. 자세한 설명을 하는 것도 아닙니다. 단순하게 와서 보라고 합니다. 때로는 우리의 지식으로 무엇인가 큰 일을 해야만 할 것 같은 부담감을 벗어버려도 될 것 같습니다. 예수님이 하신 것처럼, 빌립이 한 것 처럼 단순하면서도 간단하게 전도를 할 수 있다는 것을 성경에서 배울 수 있습니다.

 

When Philip obeyed the words "Follow me," he then went on to testify about Jesus to Nathanael. When Nathanael doubted, saying, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip simply replied, "Come and see." He didn’t give a detailed explanation or argument. He just extended a simple invitation: "Come and see." Sometimes, we can free ourselves from the burden of feeling like we need to accomplish something great through our knowledge or abilities. Just as Jesus did and as Philip demonstrated, we can learn from Scripture that sharing the Gospel can be simple and straightforward.

 

47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”

48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked.

Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”

 

나다나엘을 부르셨던 예수님은 이미 나다나엘이 어떤 사람인지 알고 계셨습니다. 나의 생활 깊숙하게 개입하고 계시는 예수그리스도께서는 내가 어떤 사람인지 나의 마음이 어떠한지를 이미 알고 계십니다.

The Jesus who called Nathanael already knew who he was and what kind of person he was. In the same way, Jesus Christ, who is deeply involved in every detail of our lives, already knows who we are and the condition of our hearts.

 

49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”

50 Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.”

51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.”

 

나다나엘과 같이 고백합니다. 예수그리스도는 하나님의 아들이시고 나의 주인 되신 분이십니다.

Like Nathanael, I confess: Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Lord of my life.
