John 17
9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.
10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them.
11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.
세상을 떠나시기 전, 그리스도께서는 제자(우리)들을 위해 기도하십니다. 거룩한 아버지께 구하시기를 우리(예수님과 하나님)와 같이 그들(제자/우리)도 하나가 되게 해 달라고 기도하십니다.
Before leaving the world, Christ prays for His disciples (us). He asks the Holy Father to make them (the disciples/us) one, just as We (Jesus and God) are one.
12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.
14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.
15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.
예수님은 제자들을 보호하셨으며, 오직 가롯 유다만 잃어버렸다고 말씀하십니다. 인간이 선물로 받은 자유의지로 하나님의 뜻에 거스르는 의사결정을 했던 유다는 안타깝게도 그리스도를 배반했습니다. 세상이 제자들을 미워할 것을 아셨고, 그들이 악에 빠지지 않게 보전하시기를 위해 기도하십니다. 믿는 자들은 세상의 가치관과 구별된 삶을 살아야 합니다.
Jesus protected His disciples and said that only Judas Iscariot was lost. Tragically, Judas, who was given the gift of free will, chose to go against God's will and betrayed Christ. Jesus knew that the world would hate His disciples, so He prayed that they would be kept from evil. Believers must live a life that is set apart from the values of the world.
17 Sanctify them by[c] the truth; your word is truth.
18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.
19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
예수님은 제자들이 "진리로 거룩하게" 되기를 기도하십니다. 진리는 하나님의 말씀입니다. 말씀을 통해 세상과 구별된 거룩한 삶을 살아야합니다. 예수님께서 자신을 거룩하게 하시는 것처럼, 제자들도 거룩하게 되어 하나님께 헌신된 삶을 살기를 원하십니다.
Jesus prays that His disciples may be "sanctified by the truth." The truth is God's Word. Through His Word, they must live a holy life set apart from the world. Just as Jesus sanctifies Himself, He desires His disciples to be sanctified and live a life fully dedicated to God.
